George Zelma is a graduate of New York University and received his J.D. from Boston University Law School. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in New York.
While maintaining his practice in civil litigation, Mr. Zelma has focused for the last ten (10) years on special education law. He represents families of children with special needs in due process proceedings such as impartial hearings, suspension hearings and manifestation reviews. He is a member of the Education Law Association and the Council of Parents Advocates and Attorneys. George Zelma has participated in seminars designed to train lawyers, parents and professionals involved in the area of special education. He has also helped train psychologists and physicians about their role in I.D.E.A. Hearings.
Mr. Zelma's litigation background has been an asset in representing parents of children with special education needs, young adults and adults with disabilities.
He has also represented plaintiffs who have suffered cognitive deficits as a result of head trauma, exposure to toxic chemicals, professional malpractice and in a wide range of commercial matters.
George is a member of the bars of New York, Arizona, California and Washington, D.C.
George Zelma and David Berlin serve clients throughout New York State, including New York City (Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island) all of Long Island, and all of Westchester County, Rockland County and Putnam County.
