Attorneys George Zelma and David Berlin are lawyers serving the special education needs of families and children in New York State.
Children, pre-schoolers, teens, and young adults have special needs and require special services, both at home and in school, to accommodate those needs. We can help you identify your child's educational needs and work for you with your School District to make sure that your child is receiving the benefits of instruction, as is every child's right under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
You as a parent are an integral participant in the evaluative process. We consider ourselves to be advocates for your child in the creation of an IEP and attorneys for the family to assure appropriate programs and placement.
We will accompany all our clients to a Committee On Special Education Review (CSE) and advocate to develop and implement an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to meet your child's educational needs and to make sure that your child receives the benefits of a free and appropriate education (FAPE) in public and private placements in New York State. The appropriate placement or services can help your child to achieve educational progress including academic and social/emotional growth necessary to build your child's confidence and self-esteem.
George Zelma and David Berlin serve clients throughout New York State, including New York City (Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island) all of Long Island, and all of Westchester County, Rockland County and Putnam County.
